FEW Kansai March 2020 Meeting

Growing against the Norm

with

Chuck Kayser

Chuck Kayser, the founder of Midori Farm, will share with us the story of his farming enterprises—the origin, the triumphs, and the challenges. His search for land to build a log cabin for family holidays evolved over time into a new way of life. Eventually, he integrated into a remote mountain-valley village whose aging residents had spent their entire lives living off the land. There will be tales of making friends and learning farming the hard way—confronting monkeys, insects, typhoons, and other challenges, all the while refusing to use harmful chemicals and never giving up. He is involved in many projects and has exciting plans for future endeavors, all of which he will tell us about. By sharing his experiences, he hopes to impart to us a greater understanding of the origin of our food, the people who produce it, and the state of organic farming in Japan.
